Sorry, I am still not feeling good today. Work on papers or quizzes. See you Tuesday.

Something to consider  . . .

Unemployment
Students 25 years and older without a high school diploma have a 15.6 percent unemployment rate. If the student received a high school diploma, the rate drops to 9.7 percent. A student with some college would be looking at an unemployment rate of 9.2 percent. The unemployment rate for those who complete an associate's degree is 7.3 percent. When the student completes a bachelor's degree and additional graduate courses, the magic number is 4.7 percent. (All data from the August 2009 Bureau of Labor Statistics)

Welcome to English 100:
A Web Site for Your Class

After you have read these announcements, please go to the "home" page (button on the left menu) and start work on the class.

1. Check Announcements: When you log on to the site, take a moment to read the announcements here.

For instance, if I am sick or will not be in class, I will try to post an announcement here, as soon as I can.

2. Email: Please use the oneroomschool email address when you send me something regarding class:
pallen@oneroomschool.com

Please do not send email to me regarding the class at my greenriver.edu address.

I do not check that mail as often, and there is a good chance your message can get lost in all of the spam email I delete there.

In email messages to me, please put your name, class, and assignment  in the email subject line. For example, Viktor Santana, an English 100 student, sends me an email about something on a quiz. Viktor would put the following in his email subject line:

Subject: Santana, Viktor, English 100, quiz question

Although this is not a common event, use a similar format for names of files if you submit something as an email attachment:

File name: SantanaV.E100.summary.doc

Ordinarily, you will not be sending me documents (papers) since I will be reading them with you during class.

I have several online classes every quarter, so this will help me know who you are (especially if your email address doesn't display your name), what class you are in, and what topic you are emailing about.

Please take a moment to bookmark this page or put it in your favorites in your browser. Nearly all of the material for the course is contained on this web site. Think of it as a free text book.

If you got here and read this, you are off to a good start. Now go to the "home">"English 100"  button on the left menu, and begin stepping through the pages. You will be off and running towards completing a great quarter :)
