Welcome to the website for English 101 DE

After you have read these announcements, please go to the English 101 "Home" page (button on the left menu) and start work on the class.

Please add this web address (url) to your list of favorites or put it in your web bookmarks. This will be the page you will check for the latest course information.

You may start early, but I will not respond to assignments before the first day of classes.

1. Check Announcements: When you log on to the site (several days each week, please), take a moment to read the announcements here.

2. Email: Please use the oneroomschool email address when you contact me regarding class: 
pallen@oneroomschool.com.

Please do not send email to me regarding the class at my greenriver.edu address. I do not check that mailbox as often, and there is a good chance your message can get lost or put in one of the spam folders there.

In email messages to me, please put your name, class, and assignment or topic  in the email subject line. For example, Viktor Santana, an English 101 student, sends me an email about the character sketch assignment. Viktor would put the following in his email subject line: 

Subject: Santana, Viktor, English 101, character sketch

Use a similar format for names of files you submit as email attachments:

File name: SantanaViktor.E101.CharSketch1.doc

I have several online classes almost every quarter, so this will help me know who you are (especially if your email address doesn't display your name), what class you are in, and what topic you are emailing about. 

If you got here and read this, you are off to a good start. Now go to the "home" button on the left menu, and begin stepping through the pages. You will be off and running towards completing a great quarter :)

Check In . . .
Check this website every day if possible. It will help you remember the class, and there might be an important announcement regarding the course.

A reminder: Submitting Papers

You need to send a draft of papers to me as an email attachment. Posting  a paper on the discussion forums is not enough. That is for peer review.

On or after the due date of the second draft, whatever you submit will be marked and graded as the second or final draft of that assignment. You will lose both the marking and 4 points.

EMAIL: Do not send email to me from within Angel software.

I cannot reply to it. Use your external email program and whatever address you want. Please set the "display name" to YOUR NAME, not toodles@brokeleg.com or some such.

I try to acknowledge emails and papers received with a “Thanks” return email. If you don’t get a “Thanks” or a paper back by Wednesday or Thursday of the week submitted, resend it, noting the problem.
